SONGWRITING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
This course is designed for teachers and educators who wish to work practically with songwriting and creative music-making in educational settings.
Participants are introduced to a structured yet flexible method that makes it possible to guide a group from the very first ideas to a finished song that can be performed, recorded, and shared. The method is developed for short, intensive teaching formats and can be applied across age groups and educational levels.
The course combines method introduction, observation, and hands-on practice with an actual group of children or young people. Throughout the course, participants work with idea development, lyrics, melody, form, and collective decision-making, with a strong focus on keeping the students’ own ideas at the centre of the creative process.
The teaching is based on Boe Larsen’s many years of experience as a musician, producer, and educator, including eight years as a travelling instructor in the KODA School Contact programme.
After completing the course, participants are equipped to independently plan and carry out songwriting projects in schools and other educational contexts.
